Freedom from Captivity

Living within me,

Sorrow breeded pain.
Could not tell any,
Thoughts stored inside brain.

My chosen best friend,
Until heavy rains.
Stopped hurting that way,
Thankfully for gains.

Things I never told,
Better left unknown.
Forgiveness will come,
Reaping what was sown.

Learned many lessons,
Believed you were true.
Parted before death,
Peace long overdue.

Always deceptive,
Stabbed worse than a knife.
Bloody heart transfused,
Enabling life.

Restoring of gifts,
Found giving revives.
Healing brought wisdom,
Knowledge aiding lives.

YOU HAVE SURVIVED

You have SURVIVED the collision of stars.

You have SURVIVED the complex combination of fission and fusion.

You have SURVIVED the odds of trillions of possibilities and accidental technicalities that produced life in a world with inhospitable creatures.

You have SURVIVED an attack of billions of microbes feasting on your skin, exposed from the moment you took your first breath. 

You have SURVIVED war, genocide, slavery, famine, plague, and natural disaster.

You have SURVIVED racism and stereotypes.

You have SURVIVED trigger happy police and "concerned" citizens, while walking the streets in your neighborhood with a hood.

You have SURVIVED failed economic policies.

You have SURVIVED the destruction of your culture.

You have SURVIVED and beat the odds.

You have SURVIVED it all.

You have SURVIVED everything that has tried to kill you.

You have SURVIVED everything negative the universe has to give...

SO WHY CAN'T YOU LIVE???

Is What You Believe True?

Once I was a #Princess now I'm a #Queen 👑

There once was an Angel,
Struggling more each day.
Difficulties daily,

Especially to pray.

Problems all beginning,

By refusing to sing.
Denying a reason,

But broke part of one wing.

Throughout an existence,

Forever being told.

"Protect both wings always,
Carefully unfold."

Confusion never faced,
Feelings of inner strife.

Knowledge was conflicting,

Based on teachings in life.

"Wings are two perfect gifts,

Defining who you are.

When wing is imperfect,

Failed, lost light like a star."

Thinking every moment,

"Did my mind believe wrong?

Such harmonious sounds,

In tune with each song?"

Focused on solutions,
Bring worry to an end.
Pondered roots of faith,

Now could not comprehend.

Left home seeking for truth,

Searched, studied, learned, plus grew.

Developing knowledge,

 Foundationally true.

Dawn discovered wisdom,

Information adored.

Returned after journey,
With self-esteem restored.

Anticipated trials,
Heart's desire to teach.

Any who would listen,

Beyond her voice's reach.

Hateful sounds of whispers,
Yet fiercely pushed through crowds.

Sensed her heart smile brightly,

Lacked dimness from dark clouds.

Strutted in stadium,

Feeling nervous but proud.

Prepared hearing their words, 

"This should not be allowed."

Shouting, "Impossible,"
Envious judging brains!

"She glows and is shining,
No evidence of pains?"

Educational lies,

Superstitions were told.

Singing sweet melodies,
 Just one wing to unfold.

Overcoming issues,

Helped Angels as they grew.

Dawn's experience proved,

Facts elders never knew.

She taught learn by asking,

Explore questions with man.

Gain insight together,

To better understand.

When did ideas begin,

Belief of thoughts we do?
 Be prepared to answer,

I am a WOMAN now,

But still yes your one child.

Again thinking of you,

Tends to bring a huge smile.

Along our journey,

At times we became mad.

Seeing selves as HUMAN,

Left us empty or sad.

Simplicity of thoughts,

Neither really did know.
Good intent not harmful,

Only for me to GROW.

Love is what we needed,

However received pain.

Yet continued to LOVE,

Despite the lack of gain.

HEALER dwelled in both hearts,

Staying on our side.

Providing while leaches,

Were there just for a ride.

Spirit filled with such strength,

This woman that I see.

Mentor OVER-COMER,

From life's atrocity.

Keep STANDING on those feet,

Fight hard like your mother.
Helping me break cycle,

Abused from another.

Since FAITH is the substance,

Here today I can say.

Learning love in spite of,

Mommy showing the way!

Soon Very Soon

Unknown what's to come,

The special eye tears.

Feelings from inside,

My sorrowful fears.

Tomorrows new news,

May still be the same.

Abundant with strength,

And God takes all blame.

Work towards wholeness,

Can't process for you.

Conflicting these dreams,

Since that's what I do.

Desire to help,

However there's me.

Focusing on self,

Hence set captives free.

Time shall be taken,

No masks only real.

Pausing from purpose,

But I made this deal?

Giving all my love,

Helping others grow.

Meanwhile in my life,

Seems I have let go.

Lacking a receipt,

Dimming the bright light.

Destiny I hear,

Challenging to fight.

Overcomer yes,

No not in this way.

Perhaps a brief break,

Then come back and stay.

Fight and Win

Wanted to be angry,

Easier to feel mad.

However the truth is,

Actually I am sad.

Hard for me to admit,

But truth must be told.

Love should do what is right,

Lies can make you unfold.

Honesty will begin,

While staring in my eye.

The one that gives me strength,

And learned how not to cry.

Keeping secrets from self,

Is unhealthy and fake.

Now looking in mirror,

Each morning I awake.

For so many reasons,

Don't know where to begin.

Yet now my acceptance,

Will help me fight and win.

Another day looking,

In the mirror I see.

A little less sunshine,

Uh oh the other me.

Good thing this truth is known,

Great view of who I AM.

Have this pen in my hand,

And I don't give a damn.

Time for a new story,

Yes it's completely done.

Yesterday is over,

Already on the run.

No need to peek backwards,

Will not cause me to change.

Instead my solution,

Improvement by exchange.

More Than One Chance

Takes some hard work,

Trusting to feel.

PTSD,

Rolls like a wheel.

 Forgave myself,

Found place to heal.

Yesterday's thoughts,

Were all too real.

It's in the past,

Not what I see.

Spirit and soul,

The first real me.

Look deep inside,

Need healing too?

Better choices,

Aim to now do.

Live a full life,

Learn a new dance.

A journey gives,

More than one chance.

Many long years prior,

Questioning what I know.

Uncertain of drama,

Just wanted to let go.

Didn't make any sense,

Oh the pain was so deep.

Why another challenge,

Doing nothing to reap.

Also overcoming,

Such another great loss.

Overwhelmed with feeling,

Where was this Supreme boss?

Then voice said "Well now see,

You can handle all this.

Have great plans for your life,

Revert past to a mist.

Things only you will know,

Without pain or remorse.

Situations to grow,

I am not here by force."

Up to this period,

Knew I suffered enough.

Seemed to lack needed strength,

All had been more than rough.

Endured through the journey,

And wounds truly did heal.

Yes still have memories,

But we're allowed to feel.

Let Our Love Show

My family members aren't only related by blood. Thank you for wanting me in your life. #SOWL 💛

Family love is important,

Forever not just seasons.

Generations of people,
Born for specific reasons.

No matter your past mistake,

Stay strong remain united.

Value our foundation,

Committed not divided.

Too much distance between us,
Open wounds never discussed.
Understood we spread apart,
Challenging for us to trust.

"Never say never" they say,
Perhaps if we start to speak.

Our instances "never,"

May cease someone getting weak.

Be there for one another,

Support is not difficult,

Generation curses tricks.

Families are eternal,

These days we can even pick.

Individual choices,

Fixing issues of the heart.

Forgiveness an awesome gift,

When everyone does their part.

I adore my family,

Desiring you all know.

We deserve lives filled with peace,

Time to let our love show.

What I Do

My mind is so full,

Pictures in my head.

The words that I hear,

Listening to what's said.

The state of the world,

A dark lonely place.

Gratification,

No more face to face.

Need intimacy,

On earth born to mate.

To love with spirit,

Not live full of hate.

All we do and see,

Is not by mistake.

We reap what we've sown,

Then learn how to fake.

Certain are not real,

But not up to me.

Truth forever told,

There's no I in we.

Absent in body,

I'm present with soul.

Uniqueness of man,

Goal to make me whole.

The time is right now,

Let go of this pain.

Complete my journey,

Not sitting in vain.

You are not perfect,

And neither am I.

We're destined children,

Let go cry or die.

Tears bring us healing,

That we truly need.

Take time to listen,

Assist with their deed.

Release yesterday,

Beginning with you.

Unity purpose,

Doing what I do.

Look deep in my eye,

Pain or misery?

Eyes can be windows,

Into our soul.

If you see sorrow,

You're seeing my whole.

We were not promised,

That life would be fair.

Knowledge suffering,

I'm strong and still here.

Ups downs heartache loss,

Yet still I am sane.

Further strength and grace,

So I can remain.

Far from perfection,

I have my own view.

Taking all we get,

Find ways to pursue.

Accomplishing which,

We are birthed to give.

During good and bad,

Created to live.

Some may disagree,

Or believe not true.

That's fine with me for,

All have things to do.

My gift is to love,

Not judge wrong or right.

Despite obstacles,

Keep standing and fight.

Chosen just for me.

Patience being a virtue,

I definitely agree.

Quality I've acquired,

Blessed with I'm finally free.

Free to make my decisions,

Whether turns out wrong or right.

Free to live life as I so choose,

Each day through every night.

My faith taught me the patience,

That I am able to stand.

Everyday I thank my God,

Kept me in a loving hand.

Life's not meant to be easy,

Proof is seen everyday.

Remember how my heart smiled,

Just the very thought of you.

There was not a rainy day,

The skies always brighter blue.

Simply hearing sound of your voice,

Better than any sunshine.

Believing impossible,

Knew you were finally mine.

Now a grey sky hovering,

Like storms that will never end.

Evil is such a liar,

And soul had to comprehend.

This struggle shall pass along,

Like many of those before.

My strength is in my Savior,

I don't need you anymore.

My First Struggle

Seems love with pain,

Goes hand in hand.

Formulating,

Don't understand.

Oddness of love,

Somewhat like pain.

Love not managed,

Does not remain.

Pain felt by love,

Heart cut open.

While love repairs,

Love had broken.

Tangible way,

Painfully mends.

Love that is true,

Still may have ends.

One's heart will know,

Hard to release.

Once love's given,

Harder to cease.

Intricate mind,

Hurtful when bleed.

Peculiar yes,

Love's strange indeed.

Pure and fragile,

Safe from mom's womb.

Took it's first beat,

In warm loved tomb.

Human birth,

Troubled snuggle.

Survived that pain,

My first struggle.
